Website & User Interface (UI) Design
EO Chicago
Collaborators
Vania Myers - Content Director
Melissa Wallace - Designer
EO Chicago needed a website that was easy to maintain, served as a hub for current members and staff, aligned with EO's established brand, and effectively encouraged new member sign-ups. I led the design process, creating a streamlined, visually engaging site that addressed these needs and fostered positive user feedback.
Discovery & Planning
The project began with an in-depth discovery call to discuss EO’s branding, priorities, content needs, and timeline. From this, we developed a reorganized sitemap that streamlined the navigation. Similar pages were consolidated into index pages to reduce clutter, making the site more user-friendly for all visitors.
Homepage Design
The homepage sets the tone for the rest of the site. Drawing heavily from EO’s Visual Identity Guide, we incorporated their brand’s elements, fonts, colors, and layouts. To align with EO's goal we we included these key features:
Story and pitch modules to introduce EO Chicago and highlight member benefits.
Embedded sign-up CTAs strategically placed throughout the page and in the footer.
Shortcuts to essential content, such as events and blog posts, ensuring easy access for current members and staff.
Below is the evolution of the first draft of the homepage to it's final approval version.
Inner Page Development
After finalizing the homepage, we focused on building reusable content modules, including:
Quote blocks for testimonials.
Alternative CTA styles.
Body copy blocks and image grids.
These templates were used to design and populate the inner pages, ensuring a cohesive and functional user experience across the site.
Handoff & Quality Assurance
Once the design was approved, I created a comprehensive design-to-developer guide seen below. This included specifications for CSS and HTML languages, hover states, favicon, social share images, and other design components.
After the developers built the site, I conducted a thorough QA using Bugherd, meticulously flagging any discrepancies across devices and browsers from the originally approved design. Following the first QA round, we uploaded final content and sent the site to EO Chicago for launch approval.
Results & Impact
The redesigned website received positive feedback from EO’s internal team and current members, praising its usability and updated aesthetic. Since the launch, the website has also directly led to two new clients for Authentic Campaigns Inc. from EO members seeking their own website redesigns.
